Up-and-Down Sequential Allocation Study Comparing the Median Effective Dose of Remimazolam Versus Propofol for Inducing Unconsciousness in Pediatric Patients

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to determine the effective dose of remimazolam for inducing loss of consciousness in pediatric patients aged 2 to 14 years, comparing it to propofol. The authors found that the median effective dose (ED50) of remimazolam was 0.17 mg/kg, providing a practical dosing reference for its use in anesthesia induction for children. The study also noted that remimazolam resulted in more stable heart rates and no serious adverse events compared to propofol.
