Effect of Intraoperative Hemispheric Synchronized Sounds on Depth of Anesthesia and Postoperative Pain in Children Undergoing Infraumbilical Surgery: A Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial

The authors aimed to evaluate the effect of intraoperative hemispheric synchronized sounds on the depth of anesthesia and postoperative pain relief in children undergoing infraumbilical surgeries. The study found that these sounds significantly deepened the plane of anesthesia, as indicated by lower bispectral index (BIS) values, but did not show a statistically significant difference in postoperative pain scores between the groups. The findings suggest that hemispheric synchronized sounds could be integrated into multimodal anesthesia strategies to potentially reduce the need for pharmacological agents.
