Adverse pregnancy outcomes in successive pregnancies and maternal cardiovascular mortality: a Norwegian nationwide study

The authors aimed to investigate how the sequence of adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) and lifetime parity affect maternal cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Analyzing data from over a million women, they found that women with APOs in their first pregnancy had the highest CVD mortality, and the risk varied based on the presence and timing of subsequent pregnancies. The study concludes that evaluating the sequence of APOs provides more nuanced insights into long-term CVD risk compared to a simple binary classification of APO presence.
