Hemolysis and Renal Tubular Injury After Pulsed Field Ablation: A Comparison Between Two Commercially Available Platforms

The authors aimed to investigate whether the differences in hemolysis caused by two commercially available pulsed field ablation (PFA) platforms, PulseSelect and Farapulse, would result in varying degrees of renal tubular injury. Their findings revealed that while Farapulse induced greater hemolysis, as indicated by significant changes in hemolysis markers, there were no corresponding differences in urinary tubular injury biomarkers or renal function between the two platforms. Thus, the study concludes that the increased hemolytic response associated with Farapulse does not lead to detectable renal tubular injury in the studied patient population.
