Association of early rhythm control with depression outcomes in atrial fibrillation: A nationwide population-based cohort study
Listen to this summary
This study investigates the impact of early rhythm control (ERC) on the onset and worsening of depression in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Analyzing a large cohort, the authors found that ERC is associated with a reduced risk of new-onset depression in patients without prior depression and lower rates of hospital admissions for depression-related issues in those with a history of depression. The findings suggest that implementing ERC may have beneficial effects on mental health outcomes in AF patients.
