Assessing impact of supervision in aerobic exercise training on fitness and clinical outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to assess the impact of supervised versus unsupervised aerobic exercise training on fitness and clinical outcomes in adult clinical populations. Their systematic review and meta-analysis found that while both types of exercise improved 6-Minute Walk Test distance, supervised high-intensity exercise significantly enhanced peak oxygen consumption and reduced postoperative complications. However, the lack of direct comparisons between the two exercise modalities highlights the need for further research to clarify their relative effectiveness.
