Evaluation of CD68<sup>+</sup> macrophages in relation to kidney outcomes in immunoglobulin light-chain amyloidosis

The authors aimed to evaluate the relationship between CD68<sup>+</sup> macrophage infiltration in kidney biopsies and kidney outcomes in patients with immunoglobulin light-chain amyloidosis (AL). They found that higher macrophage scores were associated with an increased risk of renal replacement therapy, while amyloid regression correlated with prolonged kidney survival, suggesting that both macrophage infiltration and amyloid burden are important predictors of kidney outcomes in this condition.
