Durvalumab with gemcitabine-based chemotherapy regimens in advanced biliary tract cancer: primary results from the phase IIIb TOURMALINE study

Listen to this summary

The TOURMALINE study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of first-line durvalumab combined with various gemcitabine-based chemotherapy regimens in patients with advanced biliary tract cancer (aBTC), particularly in a real-world population with poor prognosis. The results indicated that the combination therapy had a manageable safety profile, with 50.7% of participants experiencing Grade 3/4 adverse events, and showed promising efficacy with a median overall survival of 13.50 months and an objective response rate of 33.1%. These findings suggest the feasibility of using durvalumab alongside different gemcitabine-based regimens in treating aBTC.
