Impact of RSV Preventive Strategies on Hospitalizations for Bronchiolitis in Infants
Listen to this summary
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of newly implemented RSV preventive strategies, including nirsevimab and a vaccine for pregnant women, on the clinical severity and viral epidemiology of bronchiolitis in hospitalized infants. The findings indicated that post-intervention infants experienced milder illness, shorter hospital stays, and lower rates of RSV infection compared to pre-intervention infants, suggesting a positive effect of these preventive measures. Additionally, the study highlights the need for ongoing surveillance to assess the long-term outcomes of these interventions.
