Weightbearing CT Reveals No Anatomical Features Associated With Ligamentous Lisfranc Injuries: A Matched Case-Control Study

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to determine whether specific anatomical features of the Lisfranc joint complex, previously suggested to be associated with ligamentous Lisfranc injuries, could be identified using weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT). The authors found no significant differences in the anatomical measurements of the second metatarsal or overall foot alignment between patients with ligamentous injuries and matched controls, challenging earlier assumptions based on 2D imaging. These results highlight the importance of utilizing standardized 3D imaging techniques for a more accurate assessment of midfoot anatomy.
