Quadriceps Tendon Autograft Produces Favorable Return to Sport, Strength, Range of Motion, Retear Rate, and Midterm Outcomes After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review

The authors aimed to evaluate the midterm outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) using quadriceps tendon (QT) autografts, specifically looking at factors such as strength, range of motion, return to sport, and complication rates over a minimum follow-up of five years. The systematic review included eight studies with a total of 662 ACLRs, revealing favorable outcomes in strength, joint laxity, and patient-reported results, although it also noted higher rates of graft failure and range of motion deficits compared to shorter-term studies. Overall, the findings support the QT graft as a viable option for ACLR, highlighting the need for further long-term research to better understand its durability.
