Double Bridges Technique of Lower Trapezius Plus Long Head of Biceps Tendon Transfer for Superior Capsular Reconstruction in Massive Rotator Cuff Tears Can Improve the External Rotation

The authors aimed to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) using the long head of biceps tendon (LHBT) combined with lower trapezius transfer (LTT) versus SCR using LHBT alone in patients with irreparable massive rotator cuff tears and high fatty infiltration. The study found that while both techniques improved patient-reported outcomes and range of motion, the combination of SCR with LTT significantly enhanced external rotation and reduced the retear rate of the infraspinatus.
