Visual performance and patient reported outcomes of an extended depth of focus IOL compared to a monofocal IOL - a randomized trial

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to compare the clinical performance and visual outcomes of an extended depth of focus intraocular lens (IOL), the Acunex Vario AN6V, with a monofocal IOL, the Acunex AN6, in patients undergoing bilateral cataract surgery. The study found that the EDF IOL significantly improved spectacle independence and visual acuity at intermediate and near distances compared to the monofocal IOL, while the incidence of visual disturbances was similar between both groups.
