Treatment of endometriosis-related chronic pelvic pain with Ulipristal Acetate and associated endometrial changes

Listen to this summary

The authors investigate whether ulipristal acetate, a selective progesterone receptor modulator, can effectively reduce chronic pelvic pain in a patient with endometriosis that has not responded to other treatments. The study finds that ulipristal significantly decreased pain levels and induced amenorrhea, but also caused endometrial changes resembling hyperplasia, which resolved upon discontinuation of the drug. This suggests that while ulipristal may alleviate pain associated with endometriosis, it can lead to notable endometrial alterations that warrant further attention.
