On Screen or On Site? Hybrid Interviews for Flexibility Without Added Bias

Listen to this summary

This study investigates whether the hybrid interview format (virtual vs. in-person) affects residency program rank list positions and applicants' chances of matching. The findings indicate that while in-person interviewees are ranked higher and have a better match rate, this association diminishes when controlling for subinternship participation. The authors also highlight that programs employ standardized scoring rubrics to mitigate potential biases in the interview process.
