Intensive Versus Conventional Blood Pressure Lowering After Successful Endovascular Thrombectomy: OPTIMAL-BP 1-Year Outcomes

Listen to this summary

The study aimed to determine the long-term effects of intensive blood pressure (BP) management compared to conventional BP management following successful endovascular thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Results indicated that intensive BP lowering to a target of <140 mm Hg was associated with worse functional independence at one year compared to conventional management, supporting existing guidelines against aggressive BP lowering in this context. The findings highlight the importance of BP management strategies in the recovery process after thrombectomy.
