Effectiveness of Immediate Angioplasty or Stenting on Functional Outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke With Severe Intracranial Stenosis

This study investigates whether immediate angioplasty or stenting improves functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who have severe intracranial stenosis without occlusion. The findings indicate that patients receiving immediate angioplasty or stenting had better 90-day functional outcomes compared to those receiving standard medical treatment alone, with no significant differences in the rates of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage or mortality. The authors conclude that immediate angioplasty or stenting may be beneficial for this patient population.
