Fertility and pregnancy concerns and needs after fertility-sparing surgery in young women with gynecological cancer and their partners: A qualitative study.

Listen to this summary

This qualitative study explored how young women treated with fertility-sparing surgery for gynecological cancer, and their partners, experience reproductive concerns, pregnancy decisions, and fertility counseling needs. Through 32 semi-structured interviews with 24 women and 8 partners, the authors found persistent uncertainty, time pressure, fear of recurrence, and a common need for assisted reproduction, with most women still motivated to pursue pregnancy and partners playing a supportive role but also having unmet needs. The authors conclude that reproductive care should be systematically integrated into routine post-treatment pathways.
