Ultrasound-guided infraspinatus-teres minor plane block for acute post traumatic shoulder pain in the emergency department: A case series

This case series investigates the effectiveness of the ultrasound-guided infraspinatus-teres minor (ITM) plane block for managing acute post-traumatic shoulder pain in the emergency department. The authors aimed to assess whether this diaphragm-sparing technique could provide rapid and effective analgesia for patients with severe shoulder injuries, facilitating necessary medical interventions without the need for additional sedation. Preliminary results indicate significant pain reduction and satisfactory analgesia, suggesting the ITM block may be a viable option, though further research is needed to validate its efficacy and safety compared to other regional analgesic techniques.
